cigar box guitars
These guitars below all look like the same
guitar but they are not. They are all different.
These are a spin off of my Jessie James
guitars and they are super popular. They
sound great and give a really traditional and
classic feel when you play them.

I make them in many different shades, from
Colonial maple, to a deep Red Oak and can
even do a Light Georgia Peach. They are
close to the best guitar I can make. These
guitar are a joy to play.

This is a music CD recorded fully in the spirit of the long lost sounds of the 20's an
30's in vintage Slide & Bottleneck cigar box guitar playing with NO modern music or
styles. It was recorded with both 3 string and 4 string cigar box guitars and is early
Blues and Depression era homemade music. It's American poverty homespun music
from that Era, this is a CD that you will cherish and listen to many hundreds of times. It
will take you back to the 20's and the dawn of recorded Blues music.
In this collection you will hear the full recording version of Bonnie and Clyde's "Death
Car Blues" and the track "The Dirty 30's" will leave you speechless and in
contemplation of one of America's harshest, yet most enduring of times, The Great
    Depression.
All music made on only cigar box guitars, NO regular guitars, NO singing to obstruct
the songs of the vintage music of homemade cigar box guitars.

Maw-Maw did more than make Apple Pie in that old Kitchen!
1919 the Homemade Kitchen Band. Can you spot the homemade guitars?
It seems the music world has moved on to a different sound a feel and I am but a
builder of Dinosaurs. It's sad that machines have taken over the craftsman's hand and
eye, if you are tired of seeing the same old store bought guitars in the same old boring
shapes you'll love a simple cigar box guitar, just a few strings but allot of fun...
Hey, here's an idea, instead of strumming air guitar in your tube socks when no ones
home, call me and I can send you something allot more cooler to play!
With clear as slick as glass, I cut my teeth on these Black & Gold Bo guitars. I started in the mid
90's with the idea of Bo's homemade guitars as actual instruments and not the Gretch fatcory style.
Back then it was super "uncool," everything I made was imperfect, people always said "why would I
play that?" or "I would never play that thing?"...and said most of all "that's just a toy!"
I thought they were fun and that seemed enough for me.
Now, well into my second decade, I have finely honed my skills at gold leafing, delicate Pinstriping
and subtle art. Study the photos, the gold bridge pins the layered knobs, handmade parts, there is
so much there that is hard to notice, this is Red Dog Americana!

Here is the Super 8. I put on some tail lights, chrome and cut the neck to
have some bumpers to try to make it into this old car that came up at
auction in York PA. This guitar can go from Telecaster Disaster to an all
out Jazzy feel to even lots of distortion and can easily levitate any marshal
stack, plug this into a Fender twin and you get the sweetest blues you'll
ever hear!!!   It's the SUPER 8!  email me john@reddogguitars.com
